Foreign investors and workers can now apply for security clearance against work permits from Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) completely online.
This service was launched from Wednesday. From now on, foreigners can submit their applications directly online through the BIDA One Stop Service (OSS) portal.
BIDA said that applying for security clearance is mandatory for foreign investors and workers who have obtained work permits. This application will be accepted only through BIDA OSS portal.
After submitting the application, the designated authority will verify it and if there is no objection, the security clearance will be deemed to have been granted within 21 working days.
However, if the application is not submitted within the time limit specified in the work permit, the relevant work permit will be considered canceled.
As the security clearance is digital, this process will be more transparent, faster and reliable, said BIDA Executive Chairman Ashiq Chowdhury. He said this reform will make the country's investment environment more modern and investment-friendly. He also expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Home Affairs for its cooperation in implementing this initiative.
