BSTI fines food shop in Rajshahi

Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has fined a sweet shop for producing and selling yogurt and sweets without the required certification in Rajshahi on Tuesday morning.

According to a BSTI official, a team led by Executive Magistrate Md Burhan Uddin Ontor and BSTI Rajshahi Certification Marks Wing Engineer Junaed Ahmed conducted a drive in the Sahib Bazar RDA Market area of Rajshahi city at around 11:30 AM and fined Nitai Mishti Ghor for manufacturing and selling 'sweetmeat' products without a quality standard certificate.

The products' packaging also lacked essential information, including the production and expiration dates. For these offences, the establishment was fined Tk 11000.

Rajshahi District Administration Executive Magistrate Md Burhan Uddin Ontor confirmed the incident and said that such drives will continue regularly in the public interest.
