Passengers told to purchase tickets only via Rail Seba app

Bangladesh Railway has urged passengers to buy tickets only through its official mobile app, Rail Seba, to avoid fraud and harassment.

In a statement on Monday, the authority warned that fraudsters on social media are falsely offering train tickets. Victims often pay through bKash or other mobile banking services, only to be abandoned when the scammers cut contact or deactivate SIM cards.

The railway authority stressed that all tickets are now issued exclusively online via the Rail Seba app, with each registered ID limited to four tickets per journey. Passengers must travel with the photo ID used for purchase, and tickets are non-transferable.

Authorities advised reporting fraudulent activities to the Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Security Force (RNB), or the hotline 131.
