In Cumilla's Muradnagar, Jubo League leader Nazmul Hasan and his associates have been accused of abducting and brutally torturing three BNP activists - Hridoy Hasan, Enamul Haque and Md. Abdullah.

On September 26 morning, they were allegedly picked up from different areas of the upazila and taken to a torture cell, where they were beaten with iron rods, hockey sticks, and cut with blades, as well as having their nails pulled out.

The victims claimed that each was reportedly demanded to pay Tk 50,000 in ransom.

Seriously injured Enamul Haque was first admitted to Cumilla Medical College Hospital but later transferred to Dhaka in a critical condition.

Mohiuddin Aunjan, Convener of Muradnagar BNP, alleged that while police are preoccupied with suppressing BNP, criminals are carrying out violence with impunity.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Muradnagar Police Station Zahidur Rahman said Nazmul had been arrested twice before and sent to court but was released on bail shortly after. Regarding the latest incident, the victims are under treatment but no case has been filed yet.
