Yasin, Raihan elected as VP, GS in GBCSU elections

Yasin Al Mridul Dewan has been elected as the Vice President (VP) and Md Raihan Khan has won the post of General Secretary (GS) in the elections of Gono Bishwabidyalay Central Student Union (GBCSU) elections. Samiul Hasan Shovon was elected as the Assistant General Secretary (AGS).

The election commission announced the final results on Thursday (September 25) at 11:30 PM.

Voting took place simultaneously from 9 AM to 3 PM at 19 different centers across the university. The total number of voters this year was 4,761.

A total of 63 candidates contested for 11 posts in this election. The university administration announced the election schedule on August 11.

Fouad Hossain, spokesperson for the GBCSU election commission, said that one returning officer was assigned at each center. Additionally, 38 teachers served as polling officers, with an equal number of assistant polling officers assisting them.

For maintaining discipline, 300 police officers were deployed, while DGFI, NSI, and DB officials supervised the process.

Gono Bishwabidyalay is the only private university in the country to have an active student union (GBCSU).
