Chandan, Ratan new CPB Prez, GS

The Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) has got new leadership following the conclusion of its 13th Congress in Dhaka electing Sajjad Zahir Chandan as President and Abdullah Al Kafi Ratan as General Secretary. 

The decision was made on Wednesday after the first meeting of the newly elected 43-member Central Committee.

Chandan served as a Presidium member.  Ratan was also a former Presidium member.

The new Presidium includes Mujahidul Islam Selim, Rafiquzzaman Layek, S A Rashid, Ragib Ahsan Munna, Jolly Talukder and Aminul Farid. 
Former President Md Shah Alam and former General Secretary Ruhin Hossain Prince, who led the party since the 12th Congress in 2022, remain members of the central committee.
