A condolence meeting commemorating the death of noted Justice Mohammad Bazlur Rahman Sana, a judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court and also the former student of Law department of Rajshahi University, held on the campus on Saturday.
The Faculty of Law of the university organized the event at Shaheed Sukhranjan Samaddar Teachers-Students Cultural Centre at 10:00am.
At the beginning of the program, a one-minute silence was observed as a mark of profound respect to the departed soul of Bazlur Rahman.
Associate professor of Law and Land Administration department Shahriar Parvez moderated the program while dean of the Law faculty Abu Naser Md. Wahid presided over it.
Whip of the National Parliament Shahiduzzaman Sarkar, justice of High Court Division of Supreme Court Ruhul Quddus, secretary of Law and Justice Division of Law Ministry Abu Saleh Sheikh Md Zahurul Haque, lawmaker of Rajshahi-2 constituency Fazle Hossain Badsha MP, MP Abul Kalam Azad, lawmaker of Rajshahi-5 constituency Abdul Wadud Dara MP, RU vice chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Mizanuddin, Pro-VC Professor Dr. Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan, among others, addressed the occasion.
Addressing the condolence meeting, speakers recalled the contribution of Bazlur Rahman to the judiciary. Terming his death irreparable loss, they said Bazlur Rahman was the icon of progressive cognition and devoted soul for the nation.
They also prayed for eternal peace of his departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
It is noted that Justice Bazlur Rahman Sana, who had been suffering from cancer for long, breathed his last at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in the capital on January 1.
