
Ten men Bashundhara Kings retained title of the Bashundhara Group Bangladesh Challenge Cup beating Mohammedan by 4-1 goals held at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla.
It was the second occasion, Kings won the title of the Bangladesh Challenge Cup after beating Mohammedan Sporting Club by 3-1 goals in the inaugural edition last year in Kings Arena in the capital.
In the day's match, Brazilian forward Dorielton scored a brace while his compatriot midfielder Rapheal Augusto and Nigerian forward Emmanuel Sunday supported him with a lone goal each for Kings. Uzbekistan midfielder Muzaffarov scored alone goal for Mohammedan.
The match was locked 1-1 at the breather.
The first fifteen minutes of the match saw exciting attacks and counter attacks. Bashundhara Kings were awarded a penalty in their first attack in 7th minute. Mohammedan captain Mehedi Hasan Mithu fouled Brazilian forward Dorielton Gomes who tried to stop him in to the danger zone and referee pointed the spot kick in favor of Kings. Dorielton made no mistake to covert the spot kick.
But Mohammedan staged a brilliant fight back also from a spot kick in the 13th minute of the match. Bashundhara Kings' defender Tariq Raihan Kaazi fouled a Mohammedan forward in front of the goal mouth and referee awarded the spot kick to Mohammedan. Uzbekistan midfielder Muzaffarov equalized the margin by scoring from the spot kick.
After the resumption, Kings continued their onslaught putting Mohammedan in trouble. Brazilian midfielder Rapheal Augusto doubled the lead in the 66th minutes from the close range shot after Dorielton's header, fisted by Abahani custodian Sujon Hossain, came to his way.
Nigerian forward Emmanuel Sunday made the score line 3-1 in the 74th minute from the vantage position after receiving a pass from Dorielton.
Kings' fourth goal came in the 86th minute. Dorielton, who completed his second goal in the match, ran down with ball after receiving a pass from Sunday and sent the ball with a home from with perfect finishing.
Sohel Rana of Bashundara Kings was shown red card by the referee following double yellow cards in the 63rd minute of the match. �"BSS
