RSGT sets new standards in port development, operation

Red Sea Gateway Terminal (RSGT) Chittagong has shaken up Bangladesh's maritime sector with record-breaking performance, heavy investment, and strict ethical standards.

The port terminal is eliminating long-standing delays and building a future-ready gateway that sets a new benchmark in the country's logistics arena.

In recent months, RSGT has registered sharp growth in container volumes, driven by high vessel productivity. Every vessel berths on arrival, cutting out the notorious three to five days of anchorage delay.

Containers are moving faster, importers and exporters are saving time and money and shipping lines are experiencing efficiency at par with global standards.

This operational momentum is backed by aggressive infrastructure expansion. A USD 3 million state-of-the-art container scanning system-installed in just two months-has tightened cargo security and boosted compliance.

The long-delayed South Container Yard was finally commissioned in August, increasing storage and handling capacity. By mid-October, a new Container Freight Station will raise LCL storage by 300 percent, easing space pressure for growing cargo volumes.

The investment pipeline is even more ambitious. Despite global supply chain bottlenecks, RSGT has secured critical equipment years ahead of schedule. Four new RTG cranes will be commissioned in October. Ten more will follow in November.

By April next year, four STS gantry cranes will be operational, supported by 45 ground equipment units arriving in May. In total RSGT has poured USD 63 million to install machinery alone to maintain uninterrupted growth and efficiency.

The company's approach goes beyond speed and volume. RSGT enforces a strict zero-tolerance policy on speed money and unlawful practices, insisting on full compliance with international safety protocols.

Visitors, workers, and stakeholders must follow global standards of wearing helmets, vests, and protective footwear. This is a cultural shift for Bangladesh's port users, but RSGT says it is non-negotiable.

Workforce development is another pillar of its expansion. Over 400 permanent jobs have already been created, while 600 daily workers support the terminal operations. As trade volumes rise, more local employment will be generated, positioning RSGT as a driver of both economic growth and social development.

"We are not just building a terminal-we are building trust, efficiency, and a future-ready logistics hub for Bangladesh and the region," said Syed Aref Sarwar, Head of Commercial and Public Affairs at RSGT Chittagong. "Our accelerated investments and milestones prove our commitment to world-class service and operational excellence."
