Five DUCSU leaders secure university senate positions

Five key student representatives from Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) have been selected to join the institution's prestigious senate. 

Following Sunday's executive committee meeting, decision emerged during DUCSU's inaugural executive gathering, held in Vice-Chancellor's office lounge. 

This strategic move positions student voices directly within the university's highest decision-making body.

The quintet comprises DUCSU Vice President Shadik Kayem, General Secretary SM Farhad, Assistant General Secretary Mohiuddin Khan, highest vote-getter Sabikunnahar Tamanna and Transport Secretary Asif Abdullah. 

Their selection marks a significant milestone in student representation at country's premier educational institution.

"We discussed selecting five of the elected representatives to send to senate," confirmed newly elected General Secretary SM Farhad. 

"Our decision will be published in the gazette," he added, emphasising the formal nature of this historic appointment.

Sabikunnahar Tamanna's inclusion proves particularly noteworthy, having secured the highest number of votes amongst all DUCSU members during recent elections. 

This democratic mandate strengthens her position as a formidable student advocate within senate proceedings.

The selection process reflects DUCSU's commitment to ensuring diverse representation across key portfolios, spanning academic affairs, general administration and transport services. 

These appointments promise enhanced student participation in university governance whilst bridging the traditional gap between administration and student body concerns.
