Tarique urges global pressure on Israel to protect Palestine

BNP's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has called on the international community to increase pressure on Israel to end its ongoing aggression and oppression against the Palestinian people.

In a Facebook post on Friday, he condemned Israel's plan to expand settlements in the occupied West Bank.

He said, "The international community must tell the International Court of Justice not to delay their verdict of a clear genocide in Gaza by the Israeli government while Palestinians suffer even more."

Israel launched an invasion of Gaza in October 2023 following attacks and hostage-taking by Hamas inside Israel.

The violence has also spread to the West Bank, where Palestinians face the threat of settlement expansion.

Israel has also carried out operations in Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, Iran and Qatar.

In his post, Tarique wrote: "Recent news of plans to expand settlements in the occupied West Bank that make any future Palestinian state virtually impossible is heart-breaking."

"The continued apartheid and attack on the people of Palestine, their culture, their land, their history by Benjamin Netanyahu is no less than a genocide and planned ethnic cleansing of Palestinians. It is abhorrent."
