An enforcement team from Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has conducted an on-site investigation into allegations of irregularities and negligence in the stalled KDA Shipyard Road Widening and Development Project in Khulna.

ACC Khulna Deputy Director Md Abdul Wadud led the team on Thursday afternoon.

Locals allege that the partially completed road has caused immense suffering for commuters and businesses for a long time. The contractor, Mahbub Brothers, reportedly withdrew Tk 70 crore without completing the work.

Abdul Wadud said, "Allegations have surfaced that the contracting firm embezzled funds by not completing the project on time. We are also investigating whether the work that was done was of substandard quality."

Earlier, the enforcement team visited the KDA office to collect project-related documents, payment receipts for the contractors' bills, and other relevant papers.

During the site visit, members of an expert team were also present to verify the quality of the road's construction work, its progress and the materials used in the project.
