Motazzarul Islam Mithu, a controversial contractor of the health sector during the Awami League government, has been arrested.
Dhaka Metropolitan DB Police apprehended him from the capital's Gulshan area during a raid.
Muhammad Talebur Rahman, Deputy Police Commissioner (Media) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, stated that Mithu was arrested from a house in Gulshan. He had been in hiding for a long time.
Mithu is accused of embezzling crores of taka through irregularities, tender fraud, and misappropriation of funds in various health sector projects.
He is accused in ACC case and he will be handed over to the ACC today, said DMP Joint Police Commissioner Mohammad Rabiul Hossain Bhuiyan.
Mithu has been under law enforcement surveillance since the change of government.
