Satkhira among most vulnerable to climate change

The coastal region of Bangladesh, particularly Satkhira, is one of the most vulnerable areas to the impacts of climate change, speakers said at a recent discussion.

The meeting, titled "Ensuring Climate Resilient Health Protection for Women and Adolescents in Coastal Regions," was held on Friday to address the health and well-being of women and adolescents in Padmapukur Union.

Shah Israt Azmery, Chairman of the Children Watch Foundation, attended as the chief guest, while Afroza Akhter, Treasurer of the foundation, was present as a special guest. Other invited guests included Muhsin Hossain, Headmaster of Chandnimukha MM Secondary School; SM Yasminur Rahman, Headmaster of Lincoln Gabura Gopal; Lakshmi Memorial Secondary School; and Mao Ajmal Hossain, Assistant Teacher at Pakhimara Aminia Women's Madrasa.

Moderated by Ariful Islam, the speakers highlighted issues related to climate-resilient health protection for women and adolescents in coastal regions. Muhsin Hossain emphasized that raising awareness among women and adolescents is key to safeguarding their health. Special guest Afroza Akhter encouraged adolescents to take an active role in ensuring climate-resilient health protection.

In her speech, chief guest Shah Israt Azmery urged efforts to ensure climate-resilient health protection for women and adolescents and called on them to help raise public awareness on the issue.
