FENI, Sept 7: Two people, including the supervisor and helper of a passenger bus, were killed in a road accident on Sunday morning, September 7, in Feni.
The accident occurred around 6:30 am in Hafezia area on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway when a bus suddenly stopped on the Dhaka-bound lane of the highway. A Shyamoli Paribahan bus following it collided with the rear of the stationary bus, and a truck behind the Shyamoli bus crashed into it as well.
The deceased were identified as Rabiul Islam Babu, 38, the supervisor of Shyamoli Paribahan, hailing from Raghunathpur Village in Sathia Upazila of Pabna, and Md. Bayezid Bostami, bus helper from Aman Meher Village in Kazirhat of Sirajganj.
Both were critically injured and later declared dead at Feni General Hospital.
The bus driver , Md. Rafique, 60, from Mobarakpur Village in Jhikargacha Upazila of Jashore, has also been critically injured. He was sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
Around 10 to 15 people were injured in the accident. The injured were initially taken to Feni General Hospital, where doctors pronounced Rabiul and Bayezid dead. The bus driver, who sustained severe injuries, was referred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for better treatment, while others received treatment locally.
Mohipal Highway Police Station OC Md. Harun-or-Rashid, confirmed the news.
