Couple found dead in Barguna home

Police in Barguna’s Sadar upazila recovered the throat-slit body of a woman and the hanging body of her husband from their home on Sunday.

The dead were identified as Swapan Molla, 32, and his wife Aklima, 28. Both were residents of Dakkhin Eitbaria village .

The incident came to light when the couple’s five-year-old daughter, Sadia, informed a relative, Razia, about the situation inside the house. Razia entered and saw Aklima’s body in a pool of blood, and Swapan hanging from the ceiling.

Police arrived at the scene shortly after being alerted and rescued the couple’s two children, who were found inside the house.

“We recovered both bodies and sent them to Barguna General Hospital morgue for post-mortem examinations,” said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station.

The motive behind the deaths remains unclear, and police have launched an investigation to determine whether this was a case of domestic violence, murder-suicide, or something else.

The OC added that Swapan’s cousin Mohammad Yeakub Hossain had initially informed police, based on what Sadia told Razia.

Authorities are interviewing family members and neighbors while awaiting autopsy results to shed more light on the circumstances surrounding the tragic deaths.
