Five-member Jamaat team to visit Canada

 

A five-member high-powered delegation of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, led by party chief Dr Shafiqur Rahman, is gearing up for a weeklong trip to Canada later this October. Yet, what exactly lies on their agenda remains shrouded in mystery.

The move came to light through a Foreign Ministry letter, signed by Assistant Secretary (Consular) Md Mowdud Hasan, and issued Friday (September 5). The ministry has already knocked on the doors of the Canadian High Commission in Dhaka, urging a fast-track visa process for the delegation.

According to the letter, Jamaat Ameer Dr Rahman is scheduled to travel between October 25 and 31-or thereabouts-accompanied by four close aides.
