Market Turnover Hits Tk 1400cr 

Stock bounces back at DSE after long recession

The country's stock market bounces back after a long recession. The share prices of most companies participating in transaction on the floor are increasing, along with the price index.

On Wednesday, the fourth working day of the week, the main stock market Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) recorded a turnover of about Tk 1,400 crore.

As a result, the price index has increased. Along with this, the volume of transactions in the market has also increased. Uncertainty regarding the upcoming national elections is gradually easing and it appears that the market stakeholders believe that the upward trend in the stock market will continue.

They say that the next parliamentary elections will be held in February, it is now almost certain. As the days go by, the uncertainty about the elections is decreasing. People from all walks of life now believe that the elections will be held.

They also say that investors are becoming active in the market as the uncertainty about the elections has decreased. Due to the long recession, the share prices of many companies in the market are at the bottom. Due to this, big investors are increasing their investments. This is also increasing the speed of transactions in the market.

It is expected that the stock market will gain more momentum if the political party takes over the responsibility of running the government after the elections. A market review shows that trading on the DSE started on Wednesday with the share prices of most companies increasing.

At the end of the day's trading, shares and units of 184 companies in all sectors on the DSE were listed as increasing prices. On the contrary, the prices of 165 decreased. And the prices of 47 remained unchanged. Among the good companies or companies that paid 10 percent or more in dividends, the share prices of 121 increased.

On the contrary, the prices of 77 decreased and the prices of 20 remained unchanged. On the contrary, the share prices of 30 companies that paid less than 10 percent in dividends increased, but 44 decreased and the prices of 8 remained unchanged.

Among the companies that were placed in the rotten 'Z' group due to not paying dividends to investors, the share prices of 33 increased. On the contrary, the prices of 44 decreased and the prices of 19 remained unchanged. And out of the 36 listed mutual funds, the prices of 28 increased.

On the other hand, the prices of 6 remained unchanged. No mutual fund prices decreased.

DSE's main price index DSEX increased by 10 points compared to the previous day to stand at 5,631 points.

The DSE-30 index, which consists of 30 selected companies from the other two indices, increased by 0.72 points compared to the previous day to stand at 2,195 points.

Other stock markets CSE's overall price index CASPI increased by 78 points. Out of 242 companies participating in the market, 123 increased their prices. On the contrary, 94 companies decreased their prices and 25 remained unchanged. The turnover was Tk 21.11 crore. The turnover on the previous working day was Tk 14.79 crore.
