Police have arrested two teenagers accused of attempting to rape a minor girl at Faridganj upazila in Chandpur district.
The arrested individuals are Arafat Hossain, 17, a resident of Pashchim Barali village and Shihab Hossain, 17, a resident of Kachhiara village in the same upazila.
According to the victim's mother, her 14-year-old daughter, who works in a garment factory in Dhaka, was on her way to the city with a relative.
After reaching Faridganj bus stand, a group of teenagers allegedly abducted the girl and took her to a local primary school, where they failed to assault her.
They then took her to a garden in the Raja's Park area of Kachhiara village and attempted to rape her. The suspects fled the scene when the victim's screams for help alerted others.
Confirming the incident, Faridganj Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Mohammad Shah Alam said that a case was filed in connection with the case.
The arrested individuals have been sent to court, and efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining culprits.
