The Hathazari Upazila administration has extended the imposition of Section 144 for another 24 hours in areas surrounding Chittagong University (CU) following renewed clashes between students and local residents.

The restriction, originally imposed after the second phase of violence, will now remain in effect until midnight on Tuesday (September 2), according to an official notification signed by Hathazari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Muhammad Abdullah Al Mumin on Monday evening.

The notice stated that the extension aims to prevent further deterioration of the law and order situation, safeguard public life and property, and ensure peace in the area.
All types of meetings, rallies, processions, and mass gatherings, carrying of explosives, firearms, or any indigenous weapons and presence or movement of five or more people in the affected area at once have been strictly prohibited during the restriction period.

The administration has urged residents and students to cooperate with authorities and avoid any actions that may lead to further unrest.
