Nation now focused on upcoming polls: Rajshahi divisional commissioner

Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Khondaker Azim Ahmed has said that the entire nation is now focused on the upcoming national election. 

He made the remarks on Thursday while presiding over Rajshahi Divisional Development Coordination Meeting held at conference room of Divisional Commissioner’s Office.

“The Chief Election Commissioner held a meeting with us last Saturday regarding election preparations. We are taking the necessary steps to ensure a fair and orderly election,” he said, urging all concerned government departments to begin their preparations.

During the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner also addressed environmental concerns related to illegal excavation of ponds on arable land during winter. 

He instructed the fisheries department to monitor such activities strictly.

“We need fish, but we also need to protect our agricultural land. Destroying farmland is not acceptable,” he warned.

The meeting was attended by heads of various government departments at divisional level, along with the Deputy Commissioners (DC) of all eight districts under Rajshahi Division.
