Pro-AL 'Blue Panel' sweeps DU dean polls

'Blue Panel', a panel of pro-Awami League teachers, swept the Dhaka University (DU) dean election on Wednesday.
The 'Blue Panel' teachers were elected deans of nine faculties, out of 10, while the pro-BNP 'White Panel' was elected dean of only one faculty.
The elected 'Blue Panel' deans are Prof Abu Md Delwar Hosain of Arts Faculty, Prof Abdul Aziz  of Science Faculty, Prof Shibli Rubayat-Ul Islam of Business Studies Faculty, Prof  Imdadul Hoque of Biological Science Faculty, Prof SM Abdur Rahman of Pharmacy Faculty and Prof Nisar Hossain of Fine Arts Faculty.
Only Prof Md Hasanuzzaman was elected dean of Engineering and Technology Faculty from the pro-BNP 'White Panel'.
Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed, Prof ASM Maksud Kamal and Prof Rahmat Ullah of the 'Blue Panel' were declared elected before the election in the Social Science, Earth and Environmental Science and Law faculties respectively as no one from the other panels submitted nomination paper.
The voting for the election began at 9am and continued till 1pm at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban. DU Treasurer Prof Kamal Uddin Ahmed acted as the election commissioner.    �UNB
