A Dhaka court has postponed the testimony in a corruption case against expelled Jubo League leader Ismail Chowdhury Samrat after the complainant failed to appear.

On Sunday, Judge Md Zakaria Hossain of Dhaka Special Judge Court-6 rescheduled the hearing for 3 September.

The information was confirmed by court bench assistant Fokir Md Zahidul Islam.

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) initially filed the case on 12 November 2019, accusing Samrat of acquiring Tk 2.94 crore in illegal wealth.

The charges were later extended to Tk 222.88 crore in alleged unexplained assets.

Samrat was arrested on 6 October 2019 by Rapid Action Battalion during the casino crackdown and was later expelled from the Jubo League.

The court formally framed charges on 17 July 2024 and issued a warrant for his arrest, setting 17 August for the start of testimony.
