IURS holds seminar on ‘Research Insight’

The Islamic University Research Society (IURS) organised a research seminar titled ‘The Unveiling: Research Insight and Leadership Transition’ on Tuesday at the Gagan Harkara gallery in the Rabindra Nazrul Arts faculty building on the campus.
 
Sanwar Hossain, president of the society, presided over the event while IU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah addressed the audience as the chief guest.
  
The VC said, “Bangladeshi universities lag in world rankings because of lack of research activity. Comparatively, the developed countries enriched the research fields and their universities have their own student journals where students review research, verify references, and stay updated.”
 
“Science students learn through experiments in labs while social scientists generate new ideas by analysing data. Everyone must be involved in improving student standards, and we must ensure quality,” he added.
 
Ujjal Yaman Chowdhury, director of Marketing Wave Kingdom, was the programme's keynote speaker while Bangla department chairman Professor Dr Monjur Rahman, Pharmacy department chairman Professor Dr Mizanur Rahman, Fine Arts department chairman Professor Dr Kamrul Hasan, Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering department Professor Dr Gazi Arifuzzaman Khan and Social Welfare department lecturer Habibur Rahman attended as panel discussants.
 
The discussant focused on various aspects of research and its field, including gaining insights and the importance of leadership transition.
 
Later, the organisation honoured the guests, discussants, and former and current members with crests.
