Dr. Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah, Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), has reaffirmed the commission’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption, stating that no one will be spared if specific and credible allegations are brought against them.

Speaking at a public hearing held at the Joypurhat District Shilpakala Academy on Monday, Moinuddin said, “This government is not giving protection to anyone involved in corruption, no matter who they are. If we receive concrete allegations—even against advisors—we will investigate and act accordingly.”

The hearing was organized under the slogan “Stand Against Corruption, Build the Nation – Towards a Golden Bangladesh”, he stressed the importance of starting accountability from within the ACC itself. “Our first responsibility is to examine whether our own officials are free of corruption,” he said. “Only then can we expect to hold others accountable.”

He acknowledged that corruption prevention is a complex process, especially where legal cases are involved, and called for cooperation from citizens and public servants alike.

The event was presided over by Joypurhat Deputy Commissioner Afroza Akter Chowdhury and attended by key officials including ACC Director General (Prevention and Public Awareness) Akhter Hossain, ACC Rajshahi Divisional Director Fazlul Haque, and Joypurhat Superintendent of Police Muhammad Abdul Wahab.

In the second session of the hearing, residents raised 67 complaints against 33 public and semi-government institutions, including the BRTA, Joypurhat General Hospital, the district council, LGED, the sugar mill, land offices, Palli Bidyut Samity, and others. Both service seekers and service providers participated in the dialogue. In response, several institutions were directed to resolve the complaints immediately, while the ACC pledged to investigate a number of more serious allegations.

Moinuddin expressed hope that Joypurhat could become the country’s first corruption-free district and urged all stakeholders to actively contribute to the ACC’s mission.

The hearing was attended by representatives of various government and non-government institutions, civil society members, and local community leaders.
