The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has announced a budget of Tk 3,841.38 crore for fiscal year 2025-26. City Administrator Md. Shahjahan Miah formally presented the budget on Wednesday at Nagar Bhaban auditorium.
Earlier, the proposed budget was approved during the seventh meeting of the DSCC Governing Committee. The budget outlines a revenue target of Tk 1,320.43 crore.
The planned expenditure includes Tk 635.33 crore for operational expenses, Tk 876.64 crore for development under DSCC's own funding, and Tk 1,469.24 crore for development projects supported by the government and foreign aid.
Key Sectoral Allocations include road and traffic infrastructure Tk 365.11 crore, canal development and waterlogging mitigation: Tk 115.00 crore, urban waste management: Tk 57.20 crore, mosquito control and public health: Tk 57.44 crore, tree plantation and environmental improvement: Tk 5.26 crore, welfare-oriented sectors: Tk 13.39 crore.
While presenting the budget, Administrator Shahjahan Miah said, "This budget is not just a set of mathematical figures, it is a deposit of trust from our respected taxpayers." He emphasized that instead of crafting an overly ambitious budget with inflated figures, the DSCC has taken a practical and implementable approach.
"Without placing any additional tax burden on city residents or increasing tax rates, we have focused on reducing unnecessary expenditures where applicable," he added.
