College student dies of snakebite in Boalkhali

A college student died after being bitten by a snake in Chittagong's Boalkhali upazila.

The incident occurred early Tuesday (August 5), and doctors at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) declared him dead at around 5:00 AM.

The dead Arman Talukdar, 18, son of Zahir Ahmed of Talukdar Para, Ward 3, under Karaldenga union of the upazila. He was a student at Chittagong Polytechnic Institute.

According to locals, on Monday night (August 4), after dinner, Arman went to bed in his room. Later, around 1:00 AM, he was bitten on the foot by a snake near the window. At first, he thought it was a rat bite and did not take it seriously. However, after being bitten again, the wound began to bleed, and his condition started to deteriorate.

He was first taken to Patiya Upazila Health Complex and later transferred to CMCH where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Confirming the incident, local UP member Md. Shahidul Islam said that Arman was buried after a janaza (funeral prayer) held at 11:30 AM at the local primary school field.
