
Police recovered an ancient Vishnu idol, made of black stone, from Chatmohar upazila in Pabna district on Friday morning.
According to locals and police, the idol was discovered by a fisherman, Lokman Hossain, when he was fishing on his pond and the ancient artefact came up with his fishing net. Later, he recovered the Vishnu idol with the help of locals and informed authorities concerned.

the recovery, stating that police later took custody of the idol and
brought it to the station.

(UNO) Musa Naser Chowdhury said initial assessments suggest the idol is
approximately 1,500 years old.
The Department of Archaeology has been
informed, and the statue will be handed over to them for preservation
and further research into the region’s historical and cultural heritage, he added.
