Siddique reassigned to Ministry of Public Administration

The government has removed Siddiq Zobair from his position as Senior Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division and reassigned him to the Ministry of Public Administration, according to an official notification issued on Wednesday.

Zobair had been serving on a contractual appointment at the rank of Senior Secretary. His removal comes amid mounting pressure from ongoing student protests demanding reforms and accountability in the education sector.

On Tuesday, Information Adviser Mahfuz Alam confirmed Zobair’s withdrawal in a social media post, stating that he had been officially relieved of his duties. Later, Education Adviser C.R. Abrar told reporters that the decision was made following deliberations by a high-level government committee.

Despite Zobair’s removal, no successor has been appointed to the position as of Wednesday evening, leaving the Secondary and Higher Education Division temporarily without a secretary.
