With the participation of 39 teams, the Agrani Bank 26th National Youth Hockey tournament began at the Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium in Dhaka on Sunday.
Agrani Bank General Manager Pankaj Roy Chowdhury inaugurated the event as the chief guest while bank's Deputy General Manager Mirza M Shahadat Hossan was in there as the special guest.
Among the others, Bangladesh Hockey Federation's Joint Secretary Anvir Adil Khan and Tournament Committee Secretary Mahbubul Ehsan Rana were present in there.
Three matches were decided on the inaugural day of the event.
Chittagong District beat Thakurgaon by 5-1 while Tangail outplayed Meherpur by 4-0 and defending champions Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) stunned Barisal District by 8-0 margin at the same venue.
The knockout system event's quarterfinals will be played on February 3 while the semi-finals will be played on February 4. The final match will be played on February 6 at 2:30pm while the third place decider will be held on February 5 at 3:00pm at the same venue.
