A case has been filed against 354 individuals, including named leaders and activists of Awami League, Chhatra League and other allied groups, in connection with road blockade and arson during a political program of National Citizen Party (NCP) in Gopalganj.

The case was filed on Friday night with Gopalganj Sadar Police Station by Sub-Inspector Shamim Al Mamun of Boultoli Police Outpost.

Among the accused, 54 individuals have been named, while approximately 300 others remain unidentified.

Gopalganj Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Mir Mohammad Sajedur Rahman confirmed the incident on Saturday afternoon.

According to the case statement, the incident took place on Wednesday morning when NCP organized its "July March" in Gopalganj. To obstruct the event, a group of accused individuals allegedly erected a barricade on the Gopalganj-Tekerhat regional highway at Satpara in Gopalganj Sadar upazila.

The accused reportedly chanted provocative slogans and created a blockade that disrupted traffic and pedestrian movement. At one point, they allegedly set fire to two motorcycles on the highway.

Police said the attackers fled the scene when law enforcement arrived. Later in the day, NCP central leaders were able to enter Gopalganj via the same road and participate in the march and accompanying rally.
