Body of young man recovered from Madaripur flat

MADARIPUR, July 18: Police recovered the body of a young man from a flat in Shokuni area under Sadar Upazila of the district on Thursday night.

The body was discovered at around 8 pm in a sixth-floor room of a flat owned by one SM Nasir Uddin in the area.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

According to locals, a youth was heard screaming and pleading for the door to be opened from a sixth-floor room of the flat. Locals then looked through a window and saw a young man's body lying on the floor.

Another young man, identified as Shawon, was in an adjacent room. Residents subsequently informed the police. Being informed, police recovered the body. Shawon, who was found in the next room, was immediately taken into police custody.

Madaripur Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Chatak Chakma said that the body was sent to Madaripur Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

"We are taking this incident seriously. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of death. More details will be known once the autopsy report is received," the ASP added.
