Police recovered the body of an abducted man after eight days at Kawkhali upazila in Rangamati district on Tuesday morning.
The victim was identified as Md Mamun, 35, a poultry trader, who was abducted on July 7.
According to Kaptai Circle Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jahedul Islam, Mamun was abducted from Sugarmill Adarshagram in Kalampati union of the upazila. His wife filed a general diary at Kawkhali Police Station after his abduction.
Later, police arrested a suspect named Kamrul Islam, 30 from Bhabaniganj area of Lakshmipur district on Monday night. After initial interrogation, police recovered Mamun's body wrapped in sackcloth from Majerpara area in the upazila and arrested Kamrul's wife, Sathi Akhter, in connection with the incident. Police suspect the murder was a business dispute.
Kawkhali Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Saiful Islam Sohag confirmed the incident and said that the accused, Kamrul, will be produced before the court.
All individuals involved in this murder will be identified, added the OC.
