Jul 14 as 'DU Women Students Day', Jul 17 as 'Anti-Terrorism Day'

Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Niaz Ahmed Khan has declared July14 ''Dhaka University Women Students Day'' in recognition of the role of women in the July Uprising and designated July 17 as ''Anti-Terrorism Day'' to mark the day students resisted the Bangladesh Chhatra League.

He made the announcement at Raju Sculpture around 12:30AM on Tuesday.

VC Niaz added, "The contribution of the students in July was outstanding. We are committed to that. In recognition of their contribution, we declare 14th July as 'Dhaka University Women Students Day' and the students' resistance against Chhatra League on 17th July as 'Anti-Terrorism Day'."
''These will be added to the Dhaka University calendar. We will mark both of these days with respect every year.''

On Monday night, 'July Women’s Day' was celebrated at Dhaka University through various programmes, recognising the role of women during the July uprising.

The event began with the singing of the national anthem at the Central Shaheed Minar at 6PM.
At midnight, a drone show featuring various protest images and slogans of the uprising was displayed in the sky.
