Two people were killed and two others injured in a road accident in Bhairab upazila of Kishoreganj district on Monday morning.
The accident occurred around 8:30 AM in Pannullahchar area on the Bhairab-Kishoreganj regional road.
The dead were identified as Jewel Mia, 45, a construction worker from Bashgari village under Gajaria union of Bhairab, and Kaiyum, 32, an autorickshaw driver from Monmura area of Bhairab municipality.
According to police and locals, Jewel Mia and two others were heading to work in a battery-operated auto-rickshaw from Bashgari. On the way, it was hit by a Mymensingh-bound bus belonging to "Shyamol Chhaya" (Dhaka Metro-B-11-4117) as it attempted to merge onto the Bhairab-Kishoreganj road. One person died on the spot.
The three injured were rushed to the Upazila Health Complex where doctors referred them to Dhaka for advanced treatment. Auto-rickshaw driver Kaiyum succumbed to his injuries on the way to Dhaka.
Sub-Inspector Ruknuzzaman of Bhairab Police Station said that police recovered the body of Jewel Mia from the scene. Legal action will be taken based on complaints from the victims' families.
