Food inspector abducted posing as police members, rescued after 5hrs

Khulna food inspector Sushanta Kumar Majumder was rescued, after around five hours of his abduction His hands and legs were found tied up at that time.

He was allegedly abducted from the city's No 4 Ghat area on Sunday evening. The abductors introduced them as police personnel. They demanded ransom to the victim's family.

Following the incident, Sushanta Kumars wife Madhabi Rani Majumder filed a General Diary (GD) with Khulna Sadar Police Station.

According to the complaint, Sushanta, who was serving as the in-charge food inspector at No. 4 Ghat, was picked up at about 7PM on Sunday by some people who introduced them as law enforcement. They allegedly handcuffed him, physically assaulted him and forcibly took him away on a trawler.

Khulna Sadar Police Station OC said police launched a drive immediately after receiving the complaint. Alarmed by the police drive, the kidnappers abandoned Sushanta at the field of BRB High School in Azgora village of Terokhada upazila.

He was later rescued with the assistance of Terokhada police.
