Three Mro women were electrocuted early Monday morning in Ranglai Headman Para, located in the 13 Mile area along the Bandarban-Chimbuk road.
The victims have been identified as Tumle Mro, 17, daughter of Rengthen Mro; Urkan Mro, 71, wife of the late Parao Mro; and Rowleng Mro, 35, wife of the late Merao Mro — all residents of Ranglai Headman Para.
According to police and local sources, the incident occurred following the explosion of an electrical transformer near the village. The women were reportedly electrocuted after coming into contact with live wires, leading to their deaths. Two of the victims died at the scene, while locals rushed the third to Bandarban Sadar Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Rangrao Mro, president of the 12 Mile market committee along the same road, said, “We heard that a transformer exploded and three Mro women were electrocuted after coming in contact with the wires.”
Additional Superintendent of Police in Bandarban, Abdul Karim, confirmed the news and said that police personnel were on their way to the scene. Further details will be available once the investigation progresses.
