CHATTOGRAM, JULY 13: The 5th National Law Olympiad, organised by the Society for Critical Legal Studies (SCLS) of the Department of Law CU, was successfully held on Chittagong University (CU) campus on Saturday.
The theme of this year's Olympiad is "Climate Law and Environmental Justice." East West University emerged as the champion and Jahangirnagar University as the runner-up.
High Court (HC) division Judge Justice Syed Mohammad Tazrul Hossain was present as the chief guest at the programme.
CU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof Dr Mohammed Shamim Uddin Khan, Registrar (Acting) Prof Dr. Mohammed Saiful Islam, Controller of Examination (Acting) Prof Dr. Md. Enayet Ullah Patwary and Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court Barrister Mohammed Belayet Hossain were also present as special guests.
Prof Dr. Md. Enayet Ullah Patwary said, This event will be memorable for all students. By this Olympiad I believe, we can save the world Insha-Allah.
Professor Dr. Md. Shamim Uddin Khan said, These initiatives will help students develop analytical skills and grow as global citizens. Academic activities alone are not enough to survive in today's job market. That's why such programs are highly important. Justice Syed Mohammad Tazrul Hossain expressed his delight at attending the event. It's been a great pleasure to be here. I'm truly impressed by the intelligence of the students. They presented the issues wonderfully, he said.
This year's Olympiad has brought together over 40 teams from more than 30 universities across the country, aiming to raise awareness among young law students on environmental law and climate justice.
A total of 40 teams comprising 80 participants from more than 30 universities across the country took part in the Olympiad divided into five rounds named as Pictorial Plea, Rebellious Spirit, Critical Eye, Reform Assembly, and Symposium round.
