The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against former Awami League lawmaker ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury, accusing him of suspicious financial transactions totaling over Tk 108 crore and illegally amassing wealth worth around Tk 6 crore.

The case was filed on Sunday by Md. Nizam Uddin, Deputy Assistant Director of ACC’s Chittagong District Office-1, who is also the complainant in the case.

Confirming the development, ACC Deputy Director Subel Ahmed of the Integrated District Office Chittagong-1 said that the case has been lodged under Section 27(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004; Sections 4(2) and 4(3) of the Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2012; and Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.

According to the complaint, Fazle Karim Chowdhury, who served as the MP for Chittagong-6 (Raozan) constituency, is accused of abusing his position to acquire assets amounting to Tk 5,94,92,772 beyond his known sources of income. Additionally, investigators have identified suspicious transactions worth Tk 1,08,64,85,790 across 12 bank accounts.
