
Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Sunday arrested two siblings in Netrakona district in connection with the killing of scrap trader Mohammed Sohag near Mitford Hospital.
Joint Commissioner (DB-North) of DMP, Rabiul Islam Bhuiyan, said a special DB team conducted a raid in Netrakona early Sunday based on a tip-off and arrested the two brothers — Sajib and Rajib.
With their arrest, the total number of people held in connection with the murder has risen to seven.
After the arrest, the two were handed over to Deputy Commissioner (Lalbagh Division) for further legal action.
Sohag, 39, was hacked and beaten to death in broad daylight at the hospital gate on Wednesday, July 9.
Following the incident, the victim’s elder sister filed a murder case with Kotwali Police Station.
Of the seven arrested so far, five were detained by regular police and two by members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
