Water coming from India has broken 21 points of flood control embankments, flooding at least 109 villages. On Friday, 10 more villages in Feni were flooded and one person died.

Floodwater entered different areas of Chhagalnaiya and Feni Sadar upazilas through Parshuram and Fulgazi. The district administration said that 20,000 people in Fulgazi and Parshuram upazilas still do not have electricity.

According to the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre, the water levels of the Selonia and Muhuri rivers in Feni are now going down and flowing below danger level.

The water level may continue to fall over the next 72 hours, and the flood situation may improve. However, moderate to heavy rain may continue in the area for the next 3 days.

Because of water on roads, small vehicles cannot move on the Feni-Fulgazi and Feni-Chhagalnaiya regional roads. As of Friday morning, 9,200 people are staying in 82 shelter centers.

Until last night, the army and volunteers rescued 18 people, including pregnant women and sick people, from flooded areas in Parshuram and Fulgazi upazilas.

Akter Hossain, Executive Engineer of the Water Development Board, said the water in the Muhuri, Kahua, and Selonia rivers is flowing 3 meters below danger level. However, the floodwaters are still entering low-lying areas in Chhagalnaiya and Feni Sadar, causing new villages to flood.

As rainfall has decreased in the last 24 hours, the rivers are now flowing below the danger level. The local administration, along with various organizations and volunteers, is giving help and services to the flood-affected people. Traffic on the Feni-Parshuram road is still closed. Although water has gone down slightly from houses, it is still not usable.

Due to heavy rain from Monday to Thursday, 21 points of flood protection dams in Fulgazi and Parshuram were broken. This caused at least 20 villages in Kazirbag, Motbi, Chhanua, and Fazilpur unions of Feni Sadar to be flooded again. In those areas, ponds overflowed, and fish were washed away.

Floodwater is going down in some places and rising in others. Though the Muhuri, Silonia, and Kahua rivers are below danger level, water is still entering through the 21 broken points, flooding new areas. Flooding started again in parts of Feni Sadar upazila from Thursday evening.

The district administration said 50 people from 16 families took shelter at Izzatpur High School in Motbi union last night. In total, 114 villages in 3 upazilas are flooded.

Although the flood situation is improving in Fulgazi and Parshuram, it is getting worse in Feni Sadar and Chhagalnaiya upazilas. More than 1 million people in hundreds of villages are still under floodwater.
