A Dhaka court has ordered authorities concerned to freeze Tk 40 crore across four bank accounts of Maj Gen (retd) Hamidul Haque, former director general of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), amid an ongoing inquiry against him by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order on Monday following a hearing on a petition filed by ACC Assistant Director Nawshad Ali, said ACC Public Relations Officer Akhtarul Islam.
According to the petition, the ACC received information that Hamidul Haque and his associates were attempting to withdraw or transfer funds from the accounts, potentially obstructing the investigation. The court deemed the freeze necessary to ensure a fair inquiry.

Earlier on April 21, the court imposed a travel ban on Hamidul Haque and his wife, Nusrat Jahan Mukta, as part of the same investigation.
