A Dhaka court ordered the freezing of Tk 40 crore deposited in four bank accounts belonging to former Director General of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), Major General (retd) Hamidul Haque, amid an ongoing investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The order was issued on Sunday by Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib, following a petition by ACC Assistant Director Nawshad Ali.

According to the petition, the ACC received information that Hamidul Haque and his associates were attempting to withdraw or transfer funds from the accounts, potentially obstructing the investigation. The court deemed the freeze necessary to ensure a fair inquiry.

Earlier, on April 21, the court imposed a travel ban on Hamidul Haque and his wife, Nusrat Jahan Mukta, as part of the same investigation.
