Two boys drown in Gazipur pond

Two minor boys drowned in a pond while taking a bath in Deoliabari area under Gazipur City Corporation on Sunday.

The dead were identified as Junayed, 10, and Abdul Momen, 11. Both were students of a local madrasa and lived with their parents in rented houses in the area.

According to locals, the boys went to the pond around 11 am to bathe. When they did not return home for a long time, family members began searching for them, as the boys did not know how to swim.

Later, their bodies were found floating in the pond.

Sub-inspector Md Rafiqul Islam of Konabari Police Station said they visited the spot and, upon the families’ request, handed over the bodies without conducting autopsies.
