Man killed in Satkhira road mishap

A man was killed when a speedy pickup van hit his vehicle from behind at Dohakula Itbata More on Satkhira-Ashashuni road in Satkhira district on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as Sultan Ali, 56, son of late Fazar Ali, a resident of Purohitpur village under Ashashuni upazila.

According to locals, the accident took place around 7:30 AM when Sultan Ali was heading towards Satkhira town with his van. 

A Satkhira-bound pickup van rammed his vehicle from behind at Dohakula Itbata More, leaving him dead on the spot.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Satkhira Sadar Police Station Shaminul Huq confirmed the incident.

Police detained the pickup van, but its driver managed to flee the scene.

The body was recovered and sent to Satkhira Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem, the OC added.
