One killed in Lalmonirhat road mishap

One individual was killed and another one was injured in a road mishap at Patgram upazila in Lalmonirhat district on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Meraz Hossain, 22, son of Aliul Islam from the municipality’s Mirjarkot area in the upazila.
According to locals, Meraz along with his friend was heading towards neighbouring upazila mosque by motorcycle for prayer.

When they reached Nabinagar Sarkarpara area on the Lalmonirhat-Burimari land port highway, a pickup coming from Nilphamari crushed them and motorcyclist Hossain died on the spot. Anik was seriously injured.

Later, locals rescued and took the injured individual to Patgram Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctors referred him to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for better treatment.

Borokhata Highway Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Abu Said Chowdhury confirmed the incident.
