Woman injured in Patuakhali clash dies

A woman, who injured in a clash between two groups of people at Bauphal upazila in Patuakhali district, dies at a hospital in the capital of Friday.

The deceased, Shetara Begum, 60, wife of Hanif Hawlader of Jhilna village under Kanokdia union in the upazila, succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Earlier on Thursday, Shetara locked into an altercation with her neighbors Nasir Mollah and Boshir Mollah over the ownership of a piece of land.

A group of people led by Nasir and Boshir hurriedly carried out an attack on her with lethal weapons, leaving her seriously injured on the spot.

Family took her to Bauphal Upazila Health Complex where the attending doctors referred her to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital as her health condition deteriorated.

She was later admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for better treatment. She died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Confirming the incident, Bauphal Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Akhtaruzzaman Sarkar said that necessary legal actions will be taken in this regard.
