Dear sir,

We are alarmed by the resurgence of COVID-19 at a time when the healthcare system, government arms responsible for managing them remain quite unprepared. People are also not prepared to maintain COVID period precautions as it has returned after a gap of several years. A fresh wave of COVID-19 infections is sweeping across Bangladesh, triggered by the fast-spreading Omicron sub-variants JN.1, XFG, and XFC. Between June 5-when the first COVID death was recorded after the gap-and June 19, there have been eight coronavirus-related deaths.

The Genome Center Laboratory Jashore University of Science and Technology(JUST) is preparing their lab for RT-PCR facilities in the current situation. Samples from the upazilas of Jashore will be tested. The genome centre of the university has logistics to run RT-PCR coronavirus test. This world class genome center of JUST had given coronavirus testing facilities RT-PCR from the first wave of COVID in 2020 and later. Reserved on COVID vaccine was also conducted in the laboratory.

Conducting coronavirus testing in the JUST genome center is a good approach undoubtedly. But biosafety is the most important issue in this regard.
