Country urgently needs democratic pathways to navigate its current political crisis, according to 'First Political Science Conference' Convener Professor Kazi Mohammad Mahbobor Rahman, as policymakers, academicians and youths prepare to tackle state reform challenges at major two-day conference beginning on Sunday.

"Country must explore democratic solutions amid ongoing crisis," Professor Mahbobor Rahman emphasised whilst announcing conference details at Dhaka University Journalists' Association (DUJA) office at Friday evening.

Event titled "State Reforms and Election Discourse in Transitional Democracies" will commence on 22 June at Professor Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium, Faculty of Social Sciences Building (2nd Floor), Dhaka University (DU).

"Around 60% of our participants is youth. If we can properly engage this generation, the country can advance significantly," noted Professor A K M Matinur Rahman from Islamic University, Kushtia.

Vice President of National Consensus Commission (NCC) Professor Dr Ali Riaz will deliver keynote address at 5 PM inaugural ceremony. He brings international expertise to Bangladesh's transition discourse.

Significantly, around 60% of conference participants represent young voices from universities nationwide, reflecting country's demographic reality.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan will provide inaugural address, joined by distinguished guests including Prof Dr A.S.M. Amanullah from National University.

Conference features research presentations exploring democratic transition pathways during current electoral and state reform crisis.

Joint organisers Shadow Reform Commission, Shadow National Consensus Commission and Political and Policy Science Research Foundation aim to bridge academic research with practical reform implementation through direct political party engagement sessions.
