A man was killed when two fishing boats collided head-on due to strong waves while returning from fishing in the sea in Teknaf upzila in Cox's Bazar district.
The accident occurred on Friday afternoon at the Khonkar Para Narkel Bagan boat jetty area, adjacent to Marine Drive in Teknaf Sadar union.
The deceased was identified as Helal Uddin, 22, son of Md. Selim from Paschim Khonkar Para in the upazila. He was a fisherman by profession.
According to locals, Two boats were returning from fishing in the sea. As they were attempting to dock, strong waves caused the boats to collide with each other.
Several fishermen were injured including Helal in this collision. Later locals rescued Helal who passed away on the way to the hospital.
Confirming the death, Teknaf Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Khokon Kanti Rudra said that necessary legal action is currently underway regarding this incident.
